Some strange numbering

I am helping out a little with our 2006 Parish Diary. It, as well as being a diary, contains the church calendar, daily readings, a variety of prayers and many sayings of the Desert Fathers and church theologians.

It can be slow progress at times, but it feels good to help out. However, as I was filling in the calendar, I was struck by a rather weird numbering system for the Sundays of Luke. The numbers start off fine in October, but then they go from The Third Sunday of Luke to The Sixth Sunday of Luke. The 5th makes an apperance in November, and then comes the 8th and 9th. And then the 13th! And in December, the 10th and 11th appear.

Does anyone know a reason for this? I'm sure there must be one. I've also posted the question of Ship of Fools.

On the topic of our parish, we had a wonderful service on Sunday. Our priest returned for a visit, so we were blessed with two priests and a deacon serving Divine Liturgy. It was wonderful to see him and his family again, and we pray that he may be able to return to us soon. But, in the meantime, God has wonderfully blessed us with Fr A and sub-deacon C. Thanks be to God.
