A description with links may be found on Fr Gregory's blog here, and a number of wonderful photographs may be found on another site of his (which contains much wonderful information and teaching on Orthodoxy) here.

I deeply desire a trip to Russia, and a pilgrimage to the monasteries and churches would be wonderful. A parishioner from our parish will soon set off for a holiday for six months exploring monasteries and churches in Russia and Greece. She spent two months (I think) last year at monasteries and churches in the Middle East. I must confess to some envy.

Fr Gregory's pilgrimage took place ten years after his first visit to Russia. His recollections are well worth a read. I found it interesting to read not only for what he saw, but also his observations on change: both good and bad. And one of the links in Fr Gregory's description on his blog is to this page, which brought to me a far deeper appreciation of Andrei Rublev's Icon of the Holy Trinity: so much theology in such a beautiful, and to me deceptively simple, icon.
