Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Like Tractor Girl, I'd say it's well worth a look.

Quite dark, as I recall the book was, and also more faithful to the Roald Dahl's work (if my memory is holding up -- it's been a long time since I read it!) than the original movie. But also very, very humorous in parts: the entire cinema was in stiches at various points. Well worth seeing.

Though getting to my friend fiancé's place was not so easy. I managed to get to his street, but I turned into what I thought was the driveway for his set of apartments [you can see where this is going...] -- and followed another car into the parking area. I then called my friend to see where she and he were: only to discover that they were at the entrance of his apartment parking. And I couldn't see them. After some discussion, it became apparent I had turned into the wrong driveway. I then found I couldn't get out. And no-one else was entering or leaving (a pass was needed).

Thankfully, thank you God, someone was leaving through the front of the apartment and my friend's fiancé asked if they could help. And they did: even going back upstairs to get their pass. People are wonderful at times. I eventually, with many thanks and even more apologies to the woman who helped, got out and went to the correct driveway.

It was then to a wonderful dinner at a gourmet pizza restaurant, and then off to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: a very interesting and amusing evening all in all.
