The council dug up the road on either side of my street last week. About half-a-metre from the curb one each side. It is quite odd as my street is a small suburban street: not a main road by any stretch of the imagination. But I suppose all roads need repairing.
They have now dug up the entire street, and the smell of tar hovers over the road like a mist. It is an odd smell, not pleasant, but not all together unpleasant. Though I'd prefer it wasn't there. Though the uneven surface has stopped the hoons who like to whoosh down this usually quiet street (for some reason).
I'm not sure when they intend to resurface. Until then little bits of rock and gravel will be scattered every time I drive to and from my home. And, thanks be to God, the hoons will remain absent.
