A Good Day

Starting off with church, seeing Hancock in the middle of the day, and an evening with the first episode of Series 4 of Doctor Who tonight.

Hancock was good fun, though I was a bit disappointed -- rather like Will Smith's last film, I am Legend, I thought it lost its way about half-way through. The plot twist in Hancock was interesting, and enjoyable, but I felt it went from a comedy about an alternate super-hero to something sort of tragi-romance. It didn't work for me, but maybe because I was expecting comedy throughout. However, as always, Will Smith is truly superb and relishes the role, and Charlize Theron is great also. Interesting to see Jason Bateman again too.

Church was a blessing. Our new priest appears to be settling in, and I had a quick introductory chat with him. He asked if I sing, to which I responded, "In volume, not tune." I am known for being rather loud in church [a shock I am sure to all who have met me and saw how quiet and reserved I am! :)]: I do not realise I am singing loud, I simply love to sing the hymns and chants. I also caught up with a few people, including my Godfather, someone I hadn't talked to before, and someone who has returned to our parish after some time away; so much has happened in many of their lives and it was a great joy and blessing to be able to spend time talking with them. Particularly as I have been rather anxious of late and avoiding a lot of company; the fears and anxieties have returned, sadly. But, thanks be to God, I felt at ease and had a truly blessed time afterwards -- very enjoyable. The cake for two babies celebrating their first birthdays was also rather enjoyable -- chocolate with M&Ms, Smarties, and 100s & 1000s as topping.
