Am i the only person who when saying "this year" is still actually talking about 2006? As ive been healthy eating(most of the time) for over a year now i was really proud to say to someone that i have only had 3 chippys this year. The problem was that i had said it within the first week of January, so instead of it sounding really good it actually sounded like id been really awful with my diet.
Anyway let me tell you about my birthday, Christmas and other stuff that had happened in December.
On the 7th December it was our work Christmas night out and for the second year running i was in charge of organising the party. This year i worked with Pete and i think we managed to pull off a really good evening. During the awards last year i won the jokey award of Chatterbox of the Office. Not sure how i managed that ;-P but i was pleased to find out that the award wasnt there this year so i didnt have to win it again.
My old housemate Vicki, husband Dan and young son Ben visiting us for the weekend on the 9th/10th which was great. It was so nice to catch up with them and get to know Ben a bit more who is the most gorgeous little boy.
On the 13th we had our small group meal at ours. There were about 13 of us and Jono cooked a wonderful Lamb dinner and everyone else brought drinks and puddings. A lovely relaxing evening.
As my birthday falls the week before Christmas i dont normally do anything major to celebrate it. Its usually just a small meal with a few friends etc as most people are booked up for the many Christmas activities that happen over that month. On my 30th birthday we travelled down south as Jono was an usher at his friends wedding the following day. We had a pub lunch and then we stayed at his Auntie and Uncles house in Epsom? It was lovely to meet them though so that wasnt too bad. Anyway this year myself and Jono decided that i should finally get the party that i have wanted to do for ages.
There were, as expected a good few people who couldnt make it but we still managed to pack 28 people into our home for the party which was a couple of days before i turned 32. It was a wonderful evening and Jono worked all day in the kitchen making lots of food for the party and also made me a beautiful birthday cake (he did put joke candles on it though so i couldnt blow them out grrrrr)
On the 17th my actual birthday we went to Chatsworth for the day and looked at the Christmas display they had showing the 12 days of Christmas. It was really lovely and we even had chance to walk round the gardens a bit.
After we finished there, Jono took me out for cake and coffee. That evening we planned to go to the cinema and have something to eat, but as we had been out all day we were both tired so ordered a pizza and played a board game which was the perfect way to end a lovely day.
On the 22nd we had a meal with some friends of Jono's . We did a bit of a present swap and we had a lovely meal cooked for us.
On the 23rd we picked Jono's parents up from York and travelled to his Grandparents in Pickering We spent a nice relaxing day with them and even got to open a few pressies early which is always good.
Christmas eve we went round to some friends for tea and then some of us went to the local pub. We got home after midnight. It was good to catch up with people and enjoy a nice meal and some glasses of wine.
Christmas day we went to our church in Sheffield and then we headed off to my Parents. We got there about lunch time and opened our pressies quite early on. We then had a gorgeous christmas dinner. Infact the food was so good i ate far too much. By some miracle i still managed to lose a kilo over Christmas lol.
Jono had to be back at work on the afternoon of the 27th so instead of spending the day with my nephew we just went out for breakfast with him and then quickly popped into my friend Justines house to catch up with her and swap pressies and then it was back to Sheffield.
I wasnt back to work until the 3rd January so i really enjoyed the time off at home.
New years eve we stayed in and a romantic meal for two and then watched the fireworks from the wonderful view we get from our back windows.
Right that is 2006 ended with and i look forward to being more organised this year in updating my blog.
This year as been a good year but its also been hard. My health is getting better everyday. Although there are tough days im getting through them with the help and support from family and friends.
Highlights of this year though have been.
