Well i didnt get to go skating with my nephew but a few days after getting back from Spain i got to go iceskating with some girls from work. We had been speaking about it for a while and thought it would be great fun. There were four of us that went. We were trying to remember the last time we had all skated and i realised it had been 17years since i last took to the ice. I remembered being quite good. I couldnt do anything fancy but i was able to go quite fast. I thought it would just be a case of getting back on the ice and i could carry on where i left off. Oh how i was wrong. 17 years seemed to blur my memory of how slippery a thin metal blade would be on the ice. It was really busy aswell so it was hard to build up confidence. For the first couple of times round i had to hold on for dear life. I think at once point i nearly knocked a small child over and another time i screamed as a young lad skidded right in front of me. I think i scared the life out of him.
I soon was able to skate quite fast again but i didnt have as much confidence as i did when i was younger. I finally fell over near the end of the evening but i was expecting that so it wasnt too bad. All in all a great night and we are looking to go again.
The rest of the time as been general run of the mill stuff. Going to work, Church, meeting up with friends, having friends round for meals. Catching up with our parents, sorting out the house and enjoying spending time together.
We are hoping to get to Spain again in the next couple of weeks but it all depends on when we can get flights.
At the moment we are at my parents house. We are going to some friends for lunch tomorrow and picking up their old sofa as they no longer want it and they have given it to us as a gift. A sofa and a sunday lunch. What more could you ask for.
There is a heidi & Roland Baker conference happening at our church this weekend and we were meant to be having people staying at ours who are helping out with that. Things sort of kept being changed around though and we didnt need to have anyone staying, so we decided to hire a van and pick up the sofa and catch up with a couple of our friends. It also meant we could see my parents and give Max a special dog easter egg which we brought for him a couple of weeks ago. My dad was up last weekend and we forgot to give it to him then so it has saved us having to put it in the post.
Anyway i think that all my news updated for now.
