Yesturday i had to get into work an hour early as there was loads of work to get sorted before we opened. It was going to be a busy but organised day, as we would have the correct amount of staff on. 10 minutes after i arrive into work. I had made myself a hot drink and put on a music cd. Then the phone rings. A member of staff from the day shift phones in sick with the flu. I start with my work and then the phone rings again. A member of staff from the evening shift also phones in sick with the flu. ARRGHHHH. Its complete sods law. Im left with only one other member of staff on the day shift and on a sunday night they only have two staff on. I can just about manage during the day, but they really need three staff on for the evening shift. I finally get someone to come in after lots of phone calls. I finally get home at 6pm, horrible manic shift. Today i was on the evening shift and mondays one of the busiest days of the week, due to new releases and also the returns from the weekend. I get into work at 2.30pm to find that someone else as phoned in sick and that evening it would be me and one other member of staff. We just about coped. I had to make sure i left work smack on 10.30pm as my dad as to pick me up and then go to work himself so i couldnt stay any longer. Fortunatly im on in the morning so ive left the stocking up, polishing and hoovering for then.

It is pay day today and when i opened my wage packet i found my bonus had arrived. Hoorah. An extra £190 on top of my pay. It was an insentive that the company did for managers and assistant managers. I would be getting something like 1% of takings and the boss would get 3%. I then looked closer at my wage packet and noticed that the bonus had been taxed, so it ends up im only actually £120 up in my money. £60 of my bonus went on tax and national insurance GRRRRRR. Oh well its still a good bit of extra cash and its come at the perfect time, with christmas next month :-)

Also today at work, the church where my interview is on friday, rang my boss to sort out her reference for me. I hope she gives me a good reference, i have known her for years now and she knows how much i want the job. Me and the girls from work also decided to go to the cinema next wednesday night to watch " Love Actually" I really want to see the film and it will be nice for us to go out socially. We are leaving the lads to work that night.
