So the failing of my driving test wasnt a brilliant part of my 10days off, but up to that point it had been brilliant and i did loads of stuff, which i wont repeat again as its all in a previous blog entry.
About 4pm i got changed and my dad drove me to the coach station. I would usually catch the train to London but there was going to be problems with the trains for when i was travelling home, so it made more sense to get the coach. Also as our hotel was in Victoria and the coach takes you straight to Victoria it seemed like the best idea. JT was due to arrive before me and was going to meet me at the station. My coach was an hour late in arriving so he went to the hotel first to book us in. I finally arrived at about 9.30 and we went straight to get some tea. The hotel was rather interesting. Our room was on the top floor, which meant 7 flights of stairs. The room was on a slope and as it was the attic room, the brickwork was so that it came half way up the window. Even the skinniest of people would have trouble escaping if there was a fire. We were however able to move rooms after two nights in the attic and we were then moved to a basement room. This room was equally as lovely as the bathroom was a rather bizarre shape and we both had to wedge ourselves between the shower and sink just to get to the toilet. The toilet had also been positioned right against the side wall, so we had to sit at an angle when we wanted to use it. We had booked with laterooms.com and i think as we paid less for the hotel, they didnt allow us to have the proper cooked breakfast. So while everyone around us in the crowded dining room was tucking into bacon, sausage etc we had cold toast and cereal.
Although the hotel wasnt brilliant, it wasnt dirty or anything so we made the most of it and we just thought it was quite amusing and we didnt want it to ruin our holiday.
As JT had come down on the train we were able to make the most of some great 2 for 1 tickets for various attractions in London. This was was we did each day...

THURSDAY-First of all we popped to a shop to get a drink and i also had to exchange some sunglasses at Next as there was a bolt missing off the glass bit and they kept coming apart. We then spent the morning at the Britain at war museum and then heading to the Bank of England museum. I was very excited that there was a Molton Brown shop nearbye so i got some new showergel. We then got a sandwich for lunch and then headed off to St pauls cathederal and walked across Millenium bridge and looked at the Globe theatre. We then went on a river cruise and got off at the London Eye. We didnt go on it, but had a coffee and then jumped on a random bus to see where it would take us. We ended up in Bermundsy(spell) Yes i know its not really a tourist high of London but it was good to see various parts of London. We then headed off to Tooting as we were meeting up with a couple of JTs friends and enjoyed a really nice evening and a lovely meal at a tiah(again spell, its getting late) restaurant.

FRIDAY- We got up early again and headed off to White city as we had got a tour booked round the BBC at 10am. For security you have to go through a security barrier and have your bag go through a special Xray thing. We walked through no problem and then they called us all back. They held up a rucksack and asked whose it was. We put our hands up and infront of everyone, they asked us if we had a knife in our bag. Very embarrassing. We said no and then we had to empty our bag to find out what the object was that caused concern. We still have no idea. Then a young lad in the party came up and handed over a huge swiss army knife
The security man said, "Oh we must have the wrong bag" but then the lad explained that it wasnt in his bag, but it was placed in the small box that you put in stuff that may set the alarms off or may look dodgy. Hmmmm its interesting that we get stopped for no reason, but then a large knife gets put through without question when its even in a box which can be clearly seen by security. Anyway the female guide was really lovely and was as confused as we were at why we were stopped, so i didnt feel so embarrassed then.
After the BBC we headed off to Oxford street for a bit of retail therapy. JT ended up getting some really nice new clothes. We then had lunch in a cafe bar and carried on shopping. We then decided to jump on another random bus and this time ended up in Camden. We noticed a really cool jazz bar but has we had loads of shopping bags with us we decided to head back to Victoria for tea. On the way back we had a bit of a charactor on the bus who was planning on entering a Elvis competition and decided to entertain the folks on the bus. The plan for this evening was to go back to the hotel, get changed into smart clothes and go for a really nice meal. We couldnt be bothered to get changed though and just ended up finding somewhere to eat as it was getting late. I had brought enough clothes to change for when we went out in the evenings, but it just made more sense to make the most of the time we had away from the hotel and not bother getting changed. I think JT was impressed that i wasnt being too girly by wanting to get changed all the time. hee hee. We did compromise however and i put my perfume and make up bag in the rucksack so i could freshen up.

I will continue this on another entry as i didnt think i would waffle on this much and its getting a rather long post.
