Last week i had the week from hell at work. Every day just seemed to be mega busy and generally a pain in the bum. Origionally i was meant to be working the friday day as i then had the weekend off plus this week. There used to be a rule with my old District Manager that if you have a weekend off you have to work the friday night. My boss as always thought this was a silly idea and not always put it into action. However last friday she did. I was meant to be finishing at 5pm on the friday and JT was picking me up from work as we were heading down south for our holidays. As i now had to work the friday night i didnt finish work until 10.30pm. My boss was thinking of also making me do a rental inventory, which would have meant i got home at 2am, but changed her mind. Anyway, it basically meant that we couldnt start our holiday until the saturday morning.
It was a holiday that i really needed and was so looking forward to. There were four of us holidaying together. Me, JT, J and E. We went to Christchurch and stayed in J's parents holiday home. The views were stunning, the place was wonderful and the weather couldnt have been better. By the second day i felt totally relaxed and was loving every minute of it. I even managed to conker (spell) a couple of my fears.
Basically the beach was only about 20mins away but at the bottom of the garden there was the river/lake/general mass of water which lead to the sea. J's parents own their own boat and also a small dingy style thing, which is how we planned to get the beach. We always went on boating holidays when i was younger so big boats dont bother me. Small boats however are a different kettle of fish. I just have this overwhelming fear that im going to stand in one and the boat just goes under the water. Anyway i decided that i was going to have to give it a go. So sunday we all got ready to go to the beach. First i had to climb onto the main boat and then gently ease myself onto the dingy. Hoorah i made it and it didnt sink. Everyone else got into the boat and we set off. excellent i hear you cry. 1 minute and 1 wet bottom later i was back at the big boat trying everso gracefully to get off. I plumped for the lean on boat with one knee and sort of dive onto the deck method. ( it worked ).
Basically when J had said you can get 4/5 people in the boat. He failed to mention that last time that many got in the boat it was 2 adults and 3 small children. Not 4 grown adults. I am however pleased to say that even if i had the bottom of a supermodel the boat would still not have been suitable for 4 adults. The boat didnt sink, but basically every time we hit a wave, the water seemed to come over the boat and thus that is how i got my wet bum. In the end the lads went to the beach by boat while me and E went by car and then got the little train down to the beach.
It was a wonderful day at the beach. They all managed to dig a huge hole and i decided to go for the lie back, read magazines and sleep option. Unfortunatly my option meant that i got a tad burnt.
Over the week the weather was wonderful and we ended up having lots of BBQs. The lads walked to the shop first thing every morning to get the paper, milk etc while me and E managed to sleep in a bit longer. We allowed ;-) the lads one free night at the pub while me and E rented a soppy movie and ate icecream. We all went to the IMAX cinema also and while the 3 of them went to a supersplash pool. I took the oportunity to do something ive never done before. There are some things i want to do before im 30 and this was one of them. Ive never been to the cinema on my own. Sad i know. So as there was a cinema next to the pool i used the oportunity. It was really nice and i even chatted to a couple of women who was also there to watch the same film. As it happened the pool wasnt as good as they thought it would be, but i had a ball, sitting there relaxing, with my huge drink of pepsi watching a movie.
We also had a battle of the sexes and it was girls against lads in a game of Risk. We unfortunatly lost so on the last night we had to buy the lads their tea.
Where we stayed it was right next to a lovely church called the Priory so we also had chance to have a walk round the church. On one of the days me and JT had a day to ourselves and decided to have a relaxing walk around Christchurch. We started off at the Electric museum. Not my choice but it was quite interesting and then we had a look round all the shops (my choice). The last day J's mom arrived and took us all out on the big boat and we spent a couple of hours on the sea and went as far as Needles Point. That was fantastic and a great end to the holiday. On the way home yesturday evening we stopped off at Southhampton to have tea with some of JTs friends. We finally got back to my house at 12.30am.
Today we took Max, my dog out for a nice walk, popped to Next to see if the trainers JT wanted was still in the sale (they wasnt) and then i cooked lunch for us both before JT had to head back off home. Tonight i have had a wonderful relaxing bath and im pleased to say that all my holiday washing is also done and ready to iron.
Tomorrow is the last day of my holiday and then its back to work on monday. My boss is now on holiday for 2 and a half weeks so im in charge :-( Oh well my holiday was wonderful and i feel recharged and relaxed.
