In search of the One True layout

There are some things that we CSS people try to do that seem just as hard as any of Hercules labours, and quite often require writing code that wouldn't look out of place etched into the side of Mount Doom. One of those things is equal height columns. Gah, even the mention of them sends me into panic.

However, thanks to the clever Alex Robinson, there are now Ways and Means. The article is pretty long, so make sure you settle down with a cup of tea and a biscuit before starting it, but it does seem to provide a solution to several of the biggest bugbears with CSS layouts.
