Hitting the sweet spot

There's quite an interesting article over at Zimbra about what will be the sweet spots (and not-so-sweet spots) for AJAX. It's a little light, I feel, on some of the other potential areas that AJAX could really clean up, but it does have this neat description of what Web 2.0 encapsulates:

Richly-interactive user interface in the browser - With Ajax, web UI can be every bit as rich as that of traditional client/server applications, but at the same time still have all the look, feel, behavior, and zero client administration of the World-wide Web;
XML-based web services - Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) based on XML end-points allows Internet data and services (maps, stock quotes, weather, flight status, etc.) and intranet data and services (enterprise applications such as CRM, ERP, etc.) to be securely accessed from other applications and systems; and
Mash-ups - Mash-ups are the aggregation and customization of multiple web user interfaces and web services to eliminate context switching between existing systems, deliver wholly new experiences, or the range of almost everything in between.

And, while I'm here, I better say that the next week or two may be a bit light on postings. In fact you may have noticed a lack of wise words from me over the last few days (some of you would say much longer than that ... ahem). Things look very imminent for our house move, and things are increasingly busy at work, so spare time to put brain to work and then fingers to keyboard is extremely limited. I'm sure you'll manage without me; I've left plenty of milk in the fridge and there's a packet of biscuits in the cupboard.
