Is it normal to spend your first day in a new job throwing up? I certainly hope not for everyone else's sake. There's been some bug going round at church, and that was a piece of terrible timing. My new colleagues, five yards round the corner, were very kind, but it made it very difficult to write a sensible piece, and I've spent all today asleep rather pathetically. Though I was very excited when I managed to eat a bit of dry toast without any unpleasant consequences.
Scarcely the triumphant first day I was imagining. Ah well - things can only get better.
