Happy New Year.

Still feeling a bit jaded from Saturday, when we had 13 (and a toddler) for dinner and then to see the New Year in. Was a fantastic evening - think I have just proved that our friends are the most accepting, tolerant and funny people in the world. And also the kindest, I was worried about how they would react to certain people we had invited, but they stepped up to the occasion with aplomb.
I felt proud to be seeing in the new year with them. We played the name game, which many of us have been playing since college - where you write names on scraps of paper and have to guess them in teams. And we had sparklers, fireworks, much champagne and the biggest fish I have ever tried to fit in the oven. Hurrah.

So now, 2006. mr fishsoup and I started as we meant to go on yesterday by chronically underpreparing communion and just winging it, cooking large breakfasts and eating soup in front of a crappy Rom Com. The Terminal anyone? Pleasing, but not particularly well acted. And now I'm back at work. Two bank holidays in a row... that's scarcely fair.
