As requested. We were in the Lakes this weekend (cold, but glorious) and took a guilty trip to the local Co-op (a tiny convenience one, not a big supermarket). Does that count? It's all there was - and we only bought Fairtrade and rejoiced in it.
This morning was trickier. We have people round on Wednesday - Budget Day - so everything has to be done way in advance. So this morning I made a lemon meringue pie (as you do, before work) and then ran to the butchers (which does frozen fish as well) and bought smoked haddock and prawns for a smoked fish lasagne. And I couldn't remember whether haddock is good fish or bad, and whether the cold water prawns were better than big tigery ones (I THINK so)...
The butcher is beginning to find me very funny - especially since I keep mixing my metric and imperial, and refused to buy his single cream on the basis that it wasn't real cream but Elmlea (buttermilk and vegetable fat - uggh). So now he has me down as an incompetent nutty cream snob who barely takes her ipod headphones out for long enough to order. Fabulous.
So busy was I that I had hardly any prayer time this morning. Which can scarcely be the point of lent, can it? Sigh.
