Butlins

I went to butlins for a hen do last weekend. For the unitiated, butlins is a sort of holiday camp that was very popular in the 1950s. This one (in Bognor Regis) was having an adults only summer party weekend.
I arrived on Friday night (late) and was alerted immediately to the sort of weekend it would be by the 200 or so stoned football men singing along to Robbie Williams' Angels outside the "traditional English pub".
Everyone started drinking at about 10 am and they sang vindaloo from around 9am until late in the night. We danced to Chesney Hawkes while wearing pink cowboy hats and a man took off his boxer shorts and handed them to our friend who was getting married. Many of the drinks came in glasses shaped like a characteristic part of the male anatomy.
At one point i wondered what Jesus would do and came to the conclusion that he would probably have concentrated on having a laugh, so I did that too.
And my favourite (secret) part of the weekend? Was while the football was on and I went to the swimming pool which was very nearly empty and went on all the slides by myself because there was no queue.

Sorry for long blogging silence. Normal service now resumes, I hope.
