Bestival

well, the isle of wight was truly, madly marvellous this weekend. The weather was fabulous, and Bestival (about Greenbelt-sized), reminded me a lot of GB before it got serious. There was a lot of dressing up, a lot of good bands (scissor sisters, pet shop boys, devendra banhart), and a lot of hanging around in the sunshine in the tiny tea tent (odd to see it in such a different location).
Highly, highly recommended. It made me realise that there are some things about GB I will always cherish, such as the lack of drugs, the quietness at nights and the fact that you feel like you know almost everyone. On the other hand Bestival's edginess, WI cake stall (yes really), cream teas, really good massages, Guardian lounge, farmer's market and fish and chip stall were all truly great things. And fancy dress, oh yes, a wonderful icebreaker. Next year I shall make more effort.
Of course it was all helped by relentless sunshine and lots of good friends being there.. and I danced my little socks off every night, which hopefully made up for the large amount of cake that was consumed. And I felt young. which was nice.

Back here, and back to the second round of redundancies in as many years. Hanging on in here, but sometimes it's tough.
