OK, after having left it two weeks to even start this, I am now desperately excited and about to write twice in one day. Oh the naive new-convert shame of it. But people left such nice comments and I wanted to say thank you. It's nice to be welcomed. My readers don't normally do that - they send me messages saying that I have left a semi-colon out of one of my pieces or that I clearly don't know anything about wine if i don't know that ALL claret is french.
I've just had lunch with a policeman - head of one of the big fraud squads - in a pub. This is exciting because it feels like the sort of thing that journalists are actually supposed to do though the pub wasn't nearly smoky enough for a proper police drama. I'm easily pleased. When I first got my press card i kept flashing it at the most inopportune moments (I'm sure they would have let me into Sainsburys without it). I suppose i ought to do some work now, but I actually haven't got much on today - i'm trying to work out whether it would be ethically wrong to nip out to the christian bookshop and buy some new bible study notes in work time. Probably. Ho hum.
