Today I am wearing... a pedometer (obviously I am wearing other things too, otherwise I wouldn't have anything to clip it to). It is a natty little gadget that was free with Walkers Crisps and it counts the number of steps I take each day. Apparently 10,000 is the number you need to be healthy.
I'm wearing it to see how many steps I usually take in a day - but this is proof positive that you can't measure something without changing it. Already I found myself pacing up and down the station platform this morning like a demented father in a waiting room, and intending to walk to my lunch appointment just to get the little counter to go up a bit higher. Sad, isn't it, that your movements can be so changed by a little calculatory thing. Still, I've done nearly 5,000 already - so I'm halfway there.
