youth humiliation

Our church youthgroup are SO nice - we went ten-pin bowling with them yesterday and despite the fact I was so tired I could barely talk, they were really very lovely. It was much better than having to go to the church consultation meeting (with a name like that, it was bound to be dull really, wasn't it? Maybe it would have helped if they had called it something cool). The problem with the evening was not the bowling, but one of those dance machine thingies afterwards.
One of my friends, who is one of the youth leaders had challenged me to a go on this dance machine, after Mr Fishsoup had told him that my mother has one of those dance mats you hook up to a Playstation. Trouble is, I didn't really understand how this dance machine thingy worked. And it was cruel. Everytime I jumped in the wrong square at the wrong time, it said Boo in big letters on the screen, and I suddenly realised I was surrounded by young people in hooded tops shouting "Jump now" and "You'll have to do, like, ten times better than that to win.".
By the end of the song I had four points and my rival had 220. Frustratingly I managed to get the hang of it four seconds before it finished. So there you go. Total humiliation - and I can't do the clicky thing with my fingers that all the youth like to do either. I had better rejoin the old fogies where I belong. Still NEXT time I will show them. And then they will realise i am hip.
