I get the feeling we are in for a (pretty unpleasant) longhaul here, but that's a bridge we don't need to cross until we come to it. Meanwhile, it is time to take a deep breath and get on with living. Some amusing things happened during the last few days... not least the unscheduled trip to the Honda garage made by my husband's gran and the vicar who was driving her to Watford. ("Well, it had a big red H on it, so we thought it was a hospital").
We also went to a party on Friday night and met a lovely girl, who isn't a Christian, but has been asked to speak at Greenbelt. She was worried that everyone there would try and convert her all the time... but i said that was pretty unlikely. Hadn't realised, until I got there, that I had been billed as some kind of "defender of the faith", but they asked some pretty harsh questions (journalists!). I still can't work out whether being described as "flexible", "not at all like a happy clappy" and, most bizarrely "a dipso-christian" are good things or not. But as you can probably tell by the latter description, we had fun.
I thought I had killed the cat after it lost its magnetic collar and spent two days out in freezing temperatures, but it has come home smelling badly of compost, but absolutely fine. Also, a prominent member of our church has just died, although that was expected. You can see Jack the Lass's blog (I'm going to attempt to put a link on) for a wonderful description of his worshipping. I didn't know him well, but the way that people have pulled together over this has been amazing, and I think some healing will come of it. The family have been amazing, by the sound of things. And so has he. A subdued service, to be honest... but it felt like family.
