Mr Fishsoup is leading communion tonight for the youth group, and in our infinite wisdom this morning we decided that they could make the bread, before they took communion. Just a few problems. a) They don't have time to make bread and prove and bake and take it in the time they've got and b) Mr Fishsoup has never made bread before.
So, a compromise. This morning I made a large batch of bread dough and put it in the fridge. According to the sainted Nigella (and this will probably get me tons of google hits) this will rise slowly and when he brings it up to room temperature again will still do its funky stuff this evening when the youth bash it down and make their bread shapes out of it. I have bread dough under my nails , and on my sleeves, but it has given me a wonderful opportunity to talk about the significance of communion with my colleagues.
I hope it works, and gives the youth a chance to feel connected to what they're doing, as well as some time to think about resurrection, and "living bread". I'll be having my singing lesson, so i won't know. Next week. Winemaking (er, maybe not)

Still preparing for Graceland. Getting there. someone asked me what I meant by something trendy and cutting edge, which made me think. Actually, what I really mean is something with a website, and a cool name and links in to all the people who seem to be doing stuff... we feel a bit out on a limb, I guess. But the one thing I've learnt recently is that the best piece of advice I was ever given for going to university holds true for church as well. You really do spend your entire life thinking the party (or the cool stuff) is happening somewhere else. Almost everybody feels like that at some point I guess. And I should stop fretting and get on with it.
