Twigs and worms

I have had a wonderfully relaxing weekend with Daisy. We even ventured into the city for some genuine culture at the museum and art gallery. I do like museums that are free to enter: there is less pressure to enjoy it and make the most of it. I prefer to wander vaguely through the rooms, stopping occasionally to go 'hmmm, pretty'.

The kittens are continuing with their fascination with twigs and worms, both of which they bring in through the cat flap and dissect on the kitchen floor (unless I get there first and rescue the worms). A problem has arisen with this obsession in that a certain pastime enjoyed by Daisy (and increasingly by me) involves the use of materials that can be easily confused with twigs and worms and thus seem to be fair game for the kitties... Knitting. I leave you to imagine the chaos that can ensue. My lovely new bamboo knitting needles really are glorified twigs, complete now with teeth marks.

Judicious application of water from the spray bottle enabled us to disuade the kittens from destroying these particular twigs and worms and the first sock that I finished last autumn has now been rescued from some incorrect grafting and made more foot-shaped. I've now got two projects on the go: a baby cardigan and another pair of socks. Yesterday evening's episode of Lewis was punctuated by bouts of vehement swearing on my part as I struggled to get to grips with the mysteries of tubular cast on. Mr F was shocked by the language.

Anyway, best get back to the essay. 700 more words to write today if I am to reach the target. This morning was spent trying to figure out what makes a successful theologian and apologist. Now I can start on the evaluation of Dorothy L. Sayers as theologian and apologist. Most interesting essay so far and I've been collecting some glorious quotes to share with you at a later date. First, I have to endure the trauma of a tutorial on my self-assessment. Yeuch.
