A nice drive, a nice church, a nice film.

Yesterday was a full, but relaxing day. We started by heading off into the countryside to visit my next placement church. The placement doesn't start until September, but if we didn't visit now, who knows when we might again? I'm very happy about the placement - lovely people, a vicar I am sure I can learn from and the church is right next door to a rather splendid looking pub serving Sunday roasts. Mr F was delighted at being able to drive on real country roads again. Marvellous!

Can't quite remember what we did in the afternoon (probably not very much) and then dinner and the cricket highlights before settling down to watch Brokeback Mountain. It really was a bit of a Heath Ledger fest on tv last night. They were also showing The Patriot and something else he starred in. I hadn't seen Brokeback and was pleasantly surprised. Quite slow in pace, really good camera work, great acting. The only problem was that I couldn't understand a word that Heath said. I get that he is meant to be uncommunicative and reserved, but surely he could speak a little more clearly. It was a good film.

If slow-moving, character-driven films are your thing, can I draw your attention to The Station Agent, showing tomorrow on BBC1?

I've completely lost track of where I've got to in my train of thought since Tesco have just delivered the shopping. I think that is sign enough to stop and go and do something else.
