I was cycling home last night pondering prayer and cats. I concluded that most of what I know about unconditional love comes from the lovely burmese cat that I grew up with. He would always come and just sit wherever there were people, purring away, entwining himself around any available limb (or neck). When I was ill in bed, he would come and keep me company, often lying on my hair to prevent me trying to do anything too strenuous.
On further thought I realise that he just liked being warm, so it wasn't completely unconditional, it just felt like it.
I think we can learn a lot from cats about spiritual matters. Cats are expert in being still, in fact, in just being. They will sit for hours (probably plotting their take over of the known universe, but that is scarcely relevant)
My ponderings during my cycle ride this morning were mainly on NT Greek noun declensions so I will not bore you with them.
