For our honeymoon a few years ago we took the train to Vienna and back, stopping off at various places as we went. Interlaken was a lovely place to stay - not so much for the town itself, which was rather grottily touristy, but for the scenery and location. A lot of my pictures from there have a watery theme so I thought I would put some up.
Yesterday's picture shows the Trummelbach falls which are a train and bus ride away from Interlaken, A series of viewing points of the waterfall inside a mountain is accessible by lift and then stairs. A significant amount of the snow melt from the Jungfrau and surrounding mountains drain through there. We went in October, so presumably the water levels were quite low. It was still thunderingly impressive and worth the climb to the top.
The power that water has is amazing. I love the shininess of the rock where it has been polished by years of pummelling.
