I am officially An Influential Person.
I know it is true because the MORI poll lady who came round today told me so. In fact, to be strictly accurate, her computer said so after chewing through my data for a while.
It was quite interesting actually. I was expecting a friend round for coffee so I bounded to the front door and rather enthusiastically threw it open. Cue surprised look at the extremely bizarre looking lady standing on the doorstep. She looked like she was on her way home from an Easter Bonnet competition: flowery dress, LARGE straw hat with brightly coloured scarf tied around it, brandishing an umbrella and peering over the top of her glasses and then in the plummiest voice I have heard since I lived in Surrey, 'May I ask you some questions please?'
More through surprise at her incongruous appearance than through my better judgement, I waved her through to the living room and proceeded to be grilled at some length on politics, the environment and which financial institutions I trust with my money. It was rather entertaining.
Various favourable outcomes: the knowledge that I am an influential person, two free pens (which will go by the phone - slight downside to this one is that the pens smell very odd) and a new top entry into the reaction-to-hearing-I-am-going-to-be-a-vicar competition.
'Oh how strange, now why would you want to do that dear?'
This narrowly pushes last week's entry from my hairdresser off the top spot: 'Oh, I didn't know vicar's needed to train. I thought if you went to church for long enough you would just get promoted.'
And this is the report from my first day off from my placement. Apparently after this I have to work for more than 2 days before getting another day off.
Matters arising from previous post:
Ian - yes, it is series 3 I am watching. We've just had episode 11, just the end of season 2-parter to go.
