Back to business

Phew! I was a bit tuckered out after that last monster entry, haven't posted for a while.

I started a new contract job this week building websites for a Christian book supply company. Good gig. Great people. When I was a teenager I wanted to work in a bookshop and this is probably as close as I'll ever get so I'm making the most of it. Out the back they have a warehouse full of books - seriously, lots and lots. You know that bit in the Matrix where the two guys are standing in the simulator thing and the rows and rows of guns fling out around them? That's what I felt like out there, only the rows were of books and the flinging was my own childish sense of giddiness.

Here's the best thing (or maybe worst): Staff get a book account, so they can just take them from the warehouse and pay for them at the end of the month. I don't know if I get an account - being on a limited-time-only contract - and I'm thinking maybe I'd be better of not to ask, or I might not make any money at all but end up being paid in books. You can't eat books. Then again, you can't read steak.
