Maybe I should rename this blog "Perspectives on Perspectives" (PonP for short). Actually, it's a bit late now - tonight is our last night. We're having an "international dinner". This, as usual, got me thinking. What is international food? For how long and how much do the locals have to eat something before it is no longer considered "international"?
For instance, it's accepted that pasta is Italian and stirfries are Asian. But I wouldn't consider either of them "international dishes" - everyone I know eats them every week, to varying degrees of ethnic authenticity. One of the people at Perspectives suggested Sushi - which I would think isn't international anymore, being the Australian Officeworkers' Favourite Lunch - but by the number of people in the room that said "Raw Fish?!!" I have to say maybe I'm wrong. Or there's not a lot of office workers in the class.
Anyway, I'm making bigos. It's Polish, a stew tradtionally made after a hunt that has 4 types of meat cooked in sauerkraut. Mmmm.
