I'm sitting in a hotel lobby in Lombok, this is our second morning here since we arrived from Bali and we're having a great time. Lombok is cleaner than Bali, and our hotel is much nicer - I've never appreciated a flushing toilet more. Here in Lombok we have veen visiting some Muslim students that some of our team has links with through an exchange program at their school in Australia. The students and their families are treating us like royalty, feeding us every five minutes and driving us on tours around their island. It's very different to the other work we have been doing so far. When we were in Bali we visited a couple of orphanages and a YWAM outreach into a slum area of Denpasar, these were very challenging experiences. Yet one thing we have all noticed is how happy the Indonesian people are. On the whole it doesn't matter what sort of house they are living in, the kids still like singing and playing games and are naturally curious about people from another country. Trying to understand and answer their questions with my broken Indonesian is an experience in itself, but everyone here just laughs when you say something wrong.
We are having a great time.
Sampai Nanti!
