I'll tell you: I was thinking that the loan guy would talk to Mum and Dad - who have plenty of equity in their home - and that they would just be able to get as much money as we need (which isn't that much, really). They have much more equity than necessary, why can't they just redraw it against their own house mortgage and spend it on whatever they like? Makes sense to me.
But not to the banks, apparently. They still want to do heaps of complicated stuff - Mum and Dad were with Loan Guy until 11:15pm last night filling out forms and stuff - and the bank also needs to value the unit at Mt Hotham, which means at least another THREE WEEKS before we'll know yay or nay for certain. I'm not sure what we're going to do about signing the contract and sending a deposit etc - if it's still not 100% certain (or at least 99%) then we really shouldn't... but we don't want to lose our chance, after so much planning.
And we definitely won't be in there for the Easter hols.
