I got another job offer this morning. Well, not really an offer, but a very positive pursuit to take things further. Unfortunately, this one requires me to commute to Carlton (inner north suburb of Melbourne). That's a lot closer than Sydney - I could drive to Geelong and catch the train, total commute time of 1.5 hrs? Hmm, if I wasn't going to Mt Hotham I'd have a go at it: I could handle commuting for a while, if I liked the job we could move closer to the railway station. But I can't just at the moment, and I hate to have to turn aside opportunities like that! Did God know that I'd need a new job at approximately the same time we'd be moving? It just makes everything a bit awkward. But it feels suprisingly good to get positive responses to job applications, even if I can't follow them up.
We had a slide night at Elicia's grandparents' place last night. Very cool, all these old slides from the sixties and seventies. It's a funny feeling for me, Gran and Grampa have such a close memory of those times whereas to me they are history - and it was cool to see my mother-in-law as a child growing up!
Something else I've been thinking about lately: the season at Hotham might be a chance to get back into some writing. While I've been working with Cam I've become very technical-minded, into programming and computers, it's been great and I've enjoyed it but I feel like I've been denying a part of my natural self. Wierd... we'll see what happens. Life will be very different up there.
