I was thinking the other day

... which is a little unusual, I've been so busy lately that my brain is having trouble catching up to the rest of me. So maybe this was a thought I had back in July, and it's only now made it through - I don't know.

Lots of (large) businesses have people that think about what will happen in the future and how the business will not only be affected by change, but how it can take advantage of it. This is especially true in the computer tech industry I guess, where changes are happening very fast.

I think the church should have a similar thing. How are future issues going to affect Christianity and the church? Rather than wait until new techlogies raise new moral and spiritual problems, maybe we should be thinking about them now. (In fact, maybe we are - there could be groups like this out there that I don't know about.)

Some things that will cause Christianity to change if and when they happen:

- People can live for ever (or even just a very long time)
- Cloning people happens every day
- Someone clones Jesus
- Unwanted pregnancy from casual sex is 100% eliminated safely and with no drawbacks
- We discover life on another planet that has no concept of our God
- We discover life on another planet that has an almost identical concept of our God
- Artificial intelligence becomes reality

Sounds like a list of all the most popular sci-fi movie themes, which I guess it sort of is, as that's where we come up with most of our ideas about the future I think. Are there others I've missed?
