I've got to get Elicia her own computer. Several good reasons: she can use it while I'm working, Des can use it to write her essays on while I'm working, and most importantly I can render things on it and keep working. So even though it's for Leash, really it's for work - just don't tell her. Oh, and I forgot to mention network games.
Trouble is, after our holiday (and the large tax bill from last year that I just managed to pay off in time - praise God) we are fairly tight with cash, and I don't know how much work I've got coming up either. So I thought I'd investigate the cheap option. There's the swap meet or ebay for the hardware - but really what I've been looking at is linux, as a free, interesting operating system. Leash: "You can put linux on my computer so long as I can make it pretty colours and use butterflies, and you're not allowed to change it." Okay. After reading some online reviews, I think I'll go with mepis, and I also found BeatrIX which looks like it might be able to resurrect my old 686. Fun, fun, fun!
