Yesterday I was having another read through a Jamie Oliver cookbook that I've had for a while, but I found a recipe for sourdough that I don't ever remember reading before. It takes five days to make! And it doesn't use any yeast, instead gathering natural yeasts and bacteria from the air to make it rise. Intrigueing. So I mixed up the first little starter last night and sat it outside for the required hour, and now it's sitting on top of the fridge - although it doesn't look any different this morning. If everything goes to plan it should be ready by Sunday! I might invite my family over for dinner...
