I finished Milan Kundera's 'the Unbearable Lightness of Being' on the weekend - an incredible book, one of my favourites. I cried at the end, so sad, so beautiful. I sometimes found the language and style of storytelling slightly stilted, which may be due to the author's Czech background or may be deliberate, I'm not sure - but either way it served to draw attention to the experience of reading the book as a whole rather than just following the story of the characters, and I loved it. It is everything a great book should be: thoughtful, interesting, romantic, documentary - I treasured reading it.
I've also watched the entire first season of Twin Peaks in the last week. Wow, that's also an interesting story. Not as freaky as I thought it might be, but still rather disturbing. And what a cliffhangar at the end! Aargh!
