I led the study at cell group last night. I asked to have a go a few times this year, just so I can get some experience doing it. Last night was the first, and it went badly.
The topic was "Worship as Warfare", with prewritten study notes from our pastor, who is doing a series on worship. I think the main problem is that I wasn't very comfortable with the material, and I let it show. I thought it would still work okay... but it really didn't.
Things I learnt:
1/ Be enthusiastic about what you are teaching;
2/ If you don't like the prewritten notes, rewrite them into something you DO like, rather than trying to do them in an argumentative way;
3/ It's totally different to leading a study at youth group.
So basically I hope they won't get too put off: I'd like to be leading more frequently, to get some more experience.
In other news, we're not going to Hotham. We decided it's not worth it, if Elicia has to give up the lease for her business room back here. A bit dissappointing, but there you are. We've already been at this point of thinking we're not going, a few weeks ago, so it's not as depressing as it could be.
