Thank you to the kind souls who have left comments. A few responses:
Sarah - no, being young and female does not exclude you from being an Old Git (erm... didn't mean to sound that harsh, it was a compliment when it formed in my mind). Being an Old Git is an elevated state. It shows the ability to rise above the froth and bubble of popular culture and stick to time honoured truths, like music being better when there are melodies in it. Maybe a few of us Old Gits should get together and have an evening of Old Git Music in the run up to Christmas.
Jen - working in a toyshop was every bit as exciting as it sounds. The ultimate student job.

Despairing Wife - I know you've shown me on several occasions how to use links, but can you really expect an (>>href...=+-***OldGitTechnophobe***<<) to use them? You would love me less.
