... include listening to Bruce Springsteen singing Pete Seeger songs with the backing of a Cajun band, whilst aquaplaning on the M6 in a thunderstorm on a Sunday evening. As near death experiences go, it was a very good one.

The music is just fantastic. I've never been a Springsteen fan, but his voice is perfect for this. The band are barnstorming, the songs are classic spirituals with a humanistic twist, and all is uplifting. And if something bad had happened to me, what better backing than 'Climbing Jacob's ladder'? I was almost on the first rung.
