I realised last night that I have never blogged about food.
This really is bizarre. How could such a grand passion never have made it to my blog?
Alright, we all love food. I know. But I love the whole experience of food - buying fresh ingredients, selecting combinations of flavours that compliment each other, preparing it lovingly, and serving it up to greedy faces. And then you finally get to eat it, savouring every sensous mouthful.
Food is an inherantly sociable thing as well. There is just no greater pleasure than having good friends round for dinner. As the proverb says, 'Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than the fattened calf with hatred.' I agree, although if it does have to be a meal of vegetables, better a julienne of vegetables with a nice beurre blanc sauce. Or perhaps a medley of root vegetables and shallots, roasted in olive oil and tossed in sea salt.
(And on a side note, I bet Solomon never ate a meal of just vegetables in his life. Like most of his proverbs, they were very good ideas that he never bothered sticking to himself.)
This blog will definitely become tastier.
