Advent blog - contributions welcome

Amongst other things, advent is about welcoming God into the world, and preparing our hearts to receive him.

Very pious, very nice. Sometimes, especially when horrendous things happen, this just seems impossible to do. Sometimes evil seems to win, and God seems absent.

God is out there though and working in the world. I continue to believe this, if only because I've seen him at work through Mike's life, and through all of the events of the past week. Bringing good out of an evil act. In the hearts of friends supporting and sustaining each other. In the kindness of wibloggers and others. So I can see resurrection and redemption - I just wish so desperately that it hadn't happened.

I had planned to run an advent blog for a while, and I meant it to be a focal point for the whole Wib Community to think about Christmas and what it means for them. I almost decided not to do it after everything. But I changed my mind for one simple reason:

We need to see God in the world right now. And we need to feel him with us.

So please everyone, do some of the following:
- Write comments on this blog
- Send me a link (probably via a comment) to Christmas things on your blog, or other stories that show what Christmas means to you. I'll then post it on the blog.
- Give us examples of God at work in the world, whether in the details of your life or in the wider scheme of things.

Look forward to many contributions. I'll keep updating regularly. Now go light a candle and open a calendar door.
