How silently, how silently the wonderous gift is given. So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven. No ear may hear his coming... no song and dance routine... no bold and brash voice screaming over the airwaves.
All of which makes me think that whoever did this might be missing the point. Or simply missing taste and decency. Well worth seeing though if you haven't already.
Well, if you've now come back here after having your eyes and ears blown out, let me finish this meditation. I take great comfort in the picture of God as a candle, which when lit, dispels all darkness from a room. And the simple lighting of advent candles is a lovely picture of it. Those walking in darkness have seen a great light. A light has shone, and the darkness will never put it out.
