He loves me! He loves me not. He loves me!

I have a confession that I think I should probably share: I've had a love affair with Our Tone for several years.

I know, it's embarassing and rather sordid. It happened like this.

He courted me with all the attention he could give for three solid years. He promised an end to the sleaze, and to replace nasty politicians with nice ones you could trust. He promised a better deal for those who didn't have very much. Instead of having policies dictated by free market ideology and the Daily Mail, we'd have sensible policies that were actually designed with people in mind. And we'd have people governing who were in it for our sake's, not their own interests.

Well, I was young and naive, and like so many, I fell for it. Who wouldn't? I was desparate and I gave him my love.

But now? Well, it's over seven years since the glorious consummation and I've got the itch. Tony, tell me - do you still care?

It would be so much easier if he'd just make the break cleanly. If he just said, 'No, I don't care about anything but power, locking people up and burning naughty countries to the ground.' I could just leave him then and get on with my life, perhaps moving in with that nice Charles.

This morning was typical, we had another row over Breakfast (that's Breakfast presented by Natasha the Plinky - still not the same without Sophie Raworth). One moment he's harsh and nasty - having a fit about why his frankly appalling legislation should be passed, and how dare anyone say it's not right. Those nasty Lords (he conveniently forgets he's appointed about half of them) are blocking the nation's will as expressed by the House of Commons. I hate him so much that I even find myself nodding in agreement to David Davis, and thinking what a decent sort he seems. I am resolved - Tony, I'm leaving, and this time it's final.

And then the next article happens, and his soft voice comes calling back to me. The Blair Commission. Tony has a chance this year, due to presidency of the G8 and European Union, to drive through any agenda he chooses. Most governments use that as a chance to push some narrow interests. And what does Tony make the centrepiece? Climate change and tackling poverty in Africa.

I'm not going to go into the Blair Commission report. Suffice it to say that it's pretty much everything you could hope for. The causes of injustice and poverty are tackled one by one. Tony, you are once again my knight in shining armour. Stay forever.

Readers, you've got to let me know.
Should I stay or should I go?
