looking back...

well i'm quite surprised its almost a year since i set this up, although the excessive training followed by nothingness lately has meant i haven't had a great deal of motivation to keep things up to date.

so firstly i should try and mention all the races and things i havent managed to write about. at the end of the day errrr, year i've only actually done one triathlon this year which was a surprising success. the rest of the year was spent chasing a suitable sub 4hr marathon time in order to qualify for the london to brighton race.
by the time i'd succeeded at the stoke on trent, aka potteries, marathon (which is no longer being run) there wasn't much time to fit triathlon in before focussing on the london to brighton build up.

during this build up is where things tapered off on the log front to the extent i havent even managed to pen a proper report on the full 54miles which started at big ben and ended virtually on the brighton sea front. suffice to say i was pleased to make it within the cut off time and my trusty support wagon of lisa + her parents seemed to enjoy themselves too.

i also failed to report doing the kenilworth half marathon the weekend after, which i had only entered as i'd done it every year since it started a few years back. i was going to pace someone round but they pulled out and i ended up running just a minute off my personal best time which i had set on a flatter course. so a slightly illogical learning experience all round.

since then i've done the ballbuster cos i always intended to do it one more time, had a bit of a miserable time but managed to force myself in a few minutes quicker than previously.

i went to swim coaching the other nigt for the first time this winter which was painful! and i'm also still cycling to this 5mile series each month to keep my legs turning over.

so to next year, well lisa couldnt keep hold of this christmas present until the day so i've been reading my way through the triathletes training bible in preparation for next year. so far, so good and lots of advice and questionaires to help focus goals and training for next year. re-inspired by this i'm going to try and feed back my conclusions from its variosu chapters as i build and follow a structured training programme.

so when i do my next entry you can expect even a more introspective into my strengths, abilities and weaknesses or limiters.
