the february that is

yesterday saw a little extension to my 10mile route, with an early deviation onto the sowe valley way which winds through some urban parts of the city. traffic free and surprisingly scenic for a path that's never more than a few hundred metres from a road.

with all the rain and melting snow we've had recently the river level was high, the difference between the sowe and the way.. being marginal at times. obviously it gets worse than this as there were some manholes raised up close to head height. that'd have to be a seriously large amount of water though!

this route also took me past the new hospital that is being built, from a new angle, it's progressing well althoguh the grey concrete structure is rather sombre and cold looking. where they had started bricking it up the red colour was more pleasing but it still looks rather functional and not very interesting.

back onto the road and across to the country park which was swelled with well meaning families on a sunday afternoon stroll. having fought my way through the crowds i was glad to be back onto the less well used footpaths and heading back toward the hospital.

my GPS tells me about 12.5 miles and my watch tells me 1hr40.
