just for a change yesterday.. i went to our club swim session, having bottled out of it the past two weeks on principle of it being too much like hard work. unfortunately we were due to have our annual (i.e. christmas) meal afterwards so i felt obliged to turn up.

session went something like:
200m easy with full range of movement
25m - 10 sit ups - 25m
25m - 10 press ups - 25m
25m - 10 dorsal extansions - 25m
25m - 10 squat thrusts- 25m
now this is the first time he's made us do anything out of the water, can't say i particularly appreciated it, especially having to get out of the pool at the deep end each time.
400m timed swim... which i was very please to break the 8minute mark with 7:52 even having felt i was being held up for the last 100m or so by the guy in front. It was very murky and very busy so i wasnt going to risk overtaking.
100m easy
100m moderate
100m firm
100m building to all out effort
twice through, starting the 100s every 2 minutes which meant only a little breather inbetween for me.
followed by some gentle swimming to cool down with, although by this stage i usually feel i'm just getting into it and could swim forever at a steady pace.
the cool down swim was particularly pleasant, the wate feeling warm & somehow thick and supportive around me doing a lazy front crawl.

the chinese we had afterwards was nice enough although paying seemed overly complicated!
decided i was too knackered to sort my work stuff before going to bed (i'm off to germany this afternoon) so resolved to get up and do it this morning. this would have been fine if the alarm wasn't still set for 8:45 from sunday morning's run... so after a mad panic i made it into work!

[todays swim 1800m ish]

[this weeks run total: 20.74miles]
[this weeks swim total: 3300m]

PS smudgie: the race is the draycote 35.... links below somewhere. (yes that's 35miles... not km, furlongs, mm)
