another week passes me by...

well a concerted training effort this week but nothing too impressive.

tuesday was the regular day off, despite several of those last week!

wednesday was an evening cycle ride. making the most of the clocks changing i had plenty of time to go out and get back before dark! the day had been fantastic, blue skies and bright sun and temperature in double figures, typically it had got rather overcast by the time i was home and ready to go out on the bike.
soon after setting off i was caught in a little shower of BIG rain drops and a few hailstones that went straight through my cycling kit, i told myself it was just a shower but still considered cutting short if it persisted.
luckily it stopped raining and i carried on for what i usually call 24miles (will have to check) in 1hr37ish.

thursday i was meant to go out for a run at work, but my colleague had backed out... and so did i. so the evening just left the gym run, and since lisa was going for a swim we drove there. same old route of 3.25miles and with relatively fresh legs i led the way for a fastest time of 23:14 (i think).

friday evening i repeated my session from monday, with the hope it would be more succesful. sadly the time i chose to go one of the lanes was closed for a swimming lesson meaning the one remaining lane was jam packed with strokers. i decided not to let it get to me and was forced to actually warm up on the warm up! breast stroking behind them when i had to and having a nice easy crawl when the lane was clear, i hate doing breast stroke as it's so much worse than my crawl, but i was still having trouble not catching some people.
luckily the lane had cleared a little by the time i got into my 100s which i mostly did off 2:10.

saturday was interesting as i'd managed to get free tickets to the outdoors show at the NEC from a contact at work. so we toddled along and looked at stalls about walking, camping, diving, cycling, orienteering etc. all very interesting! and still got back in time to go for a cycle, i tried to extend wednesdays route to make it 2hrs worth. It rained pretty much all the time i was out which wasn't much fun but there was the occasional break of sunshine, i'll call it 26miles in 1:43 and since i was cold & soaked through i wasn't inclined to do any more.

[this weeks totals: 3.6km swim 50miles bike 3.25miles run]
