as usual we're taking advantage of the bank holiday weekend to make sure we're more knackered than when we started. but we enjoy flitting about.
so from my list yesterday i managed to get my hair cut and tax the car.
today i got some nice paper from staples for my CV and have also hit upon the idea of providing an electronic copy on CD. i could just email it but i like the formality of posting it on real paper too.
then we wandered round stratford-on-avon and tutted at all the hapless tourists before heading on to the nearby charlecote park, a national trust property for some lunch and a quick wander round. great weather for it as the sun was out, we've been twice before but still haven't made it round the actual house! but we have now done the carriage collection (where olde leaf springs are the order of the day) as well as the kitchen, gift shop, laundry and importantly, brew house.
finally we walked down the road from there a bit toward hampton lucy (lucy is the name of the family who lived at and still partly own charlecote) where there is a watermill. being an engineer i find these places fantastic fun! we've walked past before but it is only open in the summer at weekends as it's a working watermill.
if you're in the area i recomend a visit... and quick before health & safety shut it down! don't get me wrong it's all the better experience for it but rather shocking to be able to get in such close quarters to the very powerful wheel & gear mechanisms!
we came away of course with the obligatory bag of flour (and very cheap it was too) and the knowledge that next weekend is national mills weekend and that the windmill at berkswell is open to the public only on this weekend, something to do after the triathlon then!
(interesting site about berkswell in general)
(WOW.. a whole site of mills)
i think i'm rambling.... the rest of the afternoon was another good life type affair (after we'd avoided the attentions of a poorly driven police car with blue lights & all) potting up our seedlings ready to plant out and provide our veg to eat over the summer.
if you're still reading by now... well done.
