hills

after a magical mystery tour of birmingham yesterday to drop off / pick up my wife, i did a quick about turn when i got home and took my trail shoes off to find a hill.

sadly lacking in hills round here and i'm all too aware that my fell run in a fortnight has 1500ft of climbing in the first 8miles. i headed out to the hill at stoneleigh which i've taken in a few times on long runs and done a walk round (see this blog entry).

so better late than never i parked at the top and stashed my water bottle before warming up by running to the bottom.
tried to keep an even pace up the hill before a nice flat section and back down the road to start again. the road provided an added bonus to practice running quick downhills which is a fell running tactic i've not had a chance to try a great deal either.

managed 4 laps at about 8mins a lap before stretching down and heading home. will call it a mile a lap, not sure of the climb at the moment.

[this weeks totals: 0km swim 0miles bike 4miles run]

and here's a nice open water swimming pic. taken last year at the start of my first open water triathlon (i'm 3rd from the right..as if you couldn't tell)
