still not real good at updating this! confidence and inspiration have been waining lately.
the 10miler didn't happen, only 4.5 a day late... followed by madly sorting ourselves out in time for my sister's wedding. i congratulated myself on my self restraint at not packing my running gear that weekend.
back on the wagon this week with a couple of tough weeks planned which will be make or break for my london to brighton attempt i feel. hoping to improve my fatigue resistance which failed me dismally after about 30miles in the 50miler.
last week was a reasonable 59miles (only 6km off my planned 100km) and this week should be 120km if all goes well.
my legs feel about the tiredest they ever have in training with 4.5miles yesterday and another 8 tonight.
last saturdays long run took in some more coventry way that i hadn't checked out before, unfortunately my route out up the canal to get to it was plagued by runners 'trots'.. suddenly i remembered why i hate doing early morning runs. i spent the remainder of the run trying to get my average speed back up again, not helped by overgrown footpaths and having to navigate (although my pre-programmed gps waypoints worked a treat).
a bit fed up i headed home covering only 18.5miles in close to 4 hours.
demotivated from saturdays run there was no way i was going to go out either early sunday (i need at least 1 lie in per weekend!), or in the midday heat. but i was down on miles so i went out between 8 an 10pm. the regular 13mile (ish) route was spiced up by dusk closing in (i even had to take my sunglasses off!) and the young ladies on their way to the pubs/clubs who aren't usually there at 6am. i had to conciously prevent myself sitting back and going into plod mode half way round but enjoyed a quick return leg.
yesterday was a quick gym loop, conciously slow and easy as a recovery run, since i don't have a rest day scheduled this week.
and tonight's 8 miles were wet and average!
i'm inclined to split tomorrows 10miles into two sections... not that i have any clean running kit.
and in other news coming soon:
more homebrew beer on the go
pink rhubarb wine
explosive ginger beer
more courgettes than you can shake a cucumber at
squashes the size of... small squashes
potatoes & onions
lots of tomatoes on the way
and some work here and there!
